AI Usage

tl;dr: Yes, Awaken Ashes makes use of AI, however, only for images and suggestions. Everything is checked and reviewed by a human before actual commitment.

Hi everyone,

Since AI has been a hot topic lately, we need to be upfront about the usage of AI.
Awaken Ashes is no different than a few people working together, but just having a few people working together does not mean we can cover every skill necessary to make Awaken Ashes happen.

One example is, we don't have a designer doing artworks for us. However, since this project is free and we do want to give players the best experience we can, we have to make a choice:

• Pay a designer/artist out of private pocket for everything we commission
• Make everything ourselves and make it look absolutely ridiculous
• Make use of tools like ChatGPT or something else to help us creating "original" content and/or suggesting improvements.

As we do not want to get in debt for a free server, we chose the latter option.
In our opinion, this is a fair compromise of quality and cost.

This is why:

• Every artwork as of now is AI generated (e.g. logo, background, homepage images).
• Any code that was generated has been reviewed by a (professional) Principal Software Architect & Developer.

AI usage for ingame content:

No AI has or will ever be used to help with generating ingame content.
This is a passion project and the real reason we're doing this - so this will never happen.
